MOVE IT SHAKE IT

Dance Competitions 2020 !!!

Autumn / Winter 2020

Thank you for your interest in MOVE IT SHAKE IT Dance competitions!

MOVE IT SHAKE IT Dance competitions are back and we couldnt be more excited !

This is an "in theatre comp " -  dancers back on the stage where they should be !

Our autumn/winter comps are going to be very different to the competitions you are used to with me due to covid rescritions however I feel its so so important for dancers to have something to look forward too, a reason to practice their routines and to rebuild the dance industry.

To view an explainer video please click the link below which will add you into a private facebook group.

From a dance teachers perspective, its a fantastic oppertunity to restart your private solo classes/ competition classes to help you rebuild your school.

I will of course send out the covid information to all teachers before hand so you, parents and dancers know what to expect, however the biggest difference is- each dance school will have their own time slot, meaning you will not be there for the entire day as normal, you will be given a time allocation where your dancers will perform all solos/ duets / troupes.

They will be marked accordindly on a individual dancer mark sheet and then at the end of the day when all dancers have performed the awards will be live streamed from the stage and awards can either be picked up or posted out to the dance school teacher to give out within your studio.

Just to summerize in bullet point form:

  1. Dance schools will attend within a certain time slot

  2. The theatre, reception, toilets, changing areas will be thoroughly cleaned before the next school attends.

  3. There will be a gap in between each school to clean

  4. Dance schools will be allocated a number of spectator tickets

  5. Dancers will be marked on their own individual marking sheet per category and then judged at the end of the day once all dancers have performed

  6. Judges will compare dancers marks and notes when judging and placing in each section

  7. Awards will be live streamed from the stage at the end of the day to all dance teachers, dancers, and parents

  8. Awards can either be collected from the venue or we can post them to your dance school to have your own little ceremony in the studio.

  9. Ceremony packs will be given to all dance teachers regardless to make the even extra special

  10. All Dancers will be given a participation certificate

  11. This year I wanted to add some special "extras" to make our comps even more exciting for the dancers. This season I have added in extra awards (Mini / Junior / Inter/ Senior Dancer of the day, Stand Out Dancer Award,  & Most Promising dancer award )

  12. Dance schools register in "blocks" as I have to block out time between each school. Therefore you can book either 1, 2, 3,  4 , or 5 blocks depending on your entries. Please see more block information below

1 Block = 1 hour in time = 14 entries

2 Blocks= 2 hours in time = 30 entries

3 Blocks = 3 hours in time = 52 entries

4 Blocks= 4 hours in time = 70 entries

5 Blocks = 5 hours in time= 90 entries

Entries can be in any combination, solos duets and troupes.

I feel like this is the best way to ensure the competition can go ahead safely, and in the most "covid clean" way.

Please read the information below as well as the link attached to learn all about MOVE IT SHAKE IT competitions.

I have created a form which will allow you to register your dance school online via the website instead of filling in word/excel spreadsheets. (however if you prefer a spreadsheet, please just contact me, and I will happily send across)

This means you are ale to use your phone, tablet and register your dancers whilst on the go as I know all of us dancers have incredible busy schedules.

It is an easier layout, which will hopefully make it much quicker for you all.

I have very limited spaces for this competition and schools will be entered on a first come first served basis, so if you are interested in entering your dancers please do send your entries in as soon as you can.

I have smaller age categories, more sections! (please keep reading below for more information)

To register please click the link below, go to teachers page to read the information and then click on the location you would like to register your dancers. No payment will be taken at the point of registration, an Invoice will be sent 4 weeks prior to the event.

Just a bit of information as a reminder:

MOVE IT SHAKE IT first competition was November 2015 and was hugely successful. since we have run various competitions in the Midlands, Manchester, Edinburgh and Essex.

This Competition is to give dancers an opportunity to compete in a Fun & Friendly environment.

I have had many experiences with dance competitions or dance schools that have not been that friendly in the past, so the point of this competition is to allow dancers to perform in an environment which is encouraging of others and supportive.

It is for dancers who are new to competitions, new to dance, new to that style of dance, or perhaps just would like to perform at a competition with a difference, as well as more advanced and experienced dancers.

We promote performance in a positive environment.

The different sections we offer are as shown on the form on the comp pages. (please click the location above to see sections and to register)

It is a trophy and medaled event, so it nice for the dancers to go home with something if they have placed.
We also give special awards for those dancers who may not have placed, but have tried extremely hard, or stood out to the judges!

There are lots of different sections for your dancers to enter, and we welcome boys and girls.
